How do we Charge our batteries, physical and spiritual?
The strength of the batteries is the electric charge that they carry within their cells. In our everyday life, we strive to have the batteries charged so that they can do the job when we try to start the car, for example, or to give us light at night when we need it.
We also have biological batteries in ourselves. We charge our bodily batteries with the energy we gather from food we eat and the liquids we consume and drink.
But how do we charge our spiritual batteries to enlighten our way and protect us from the obstacles and snares of the evil one? We need divine power to charge our spiritual batteries. We are connected to the source of divine power through sincere prayer. We keep the poles of our spiritual batteries and the clamps of our spiritual cables clean by keeping the Commandments of God; by purifying our body through fasting and the other special disciplines of the Church.
We receive divine power, the Grace of God, by participating in the Holy Eucharist and the other Holy Sacraments of the Church. We read our Bible, the word of God, and other spiritual books to feed our spirit and keep it connected to the Will of God, as we do with the other professional disciplines that inform our everyday work.
Let us stay connected to our source of power and keep all our batteries in life charged.
