From the Heart Series
Session 1 – Getting Love Right – Life From the Heart Series with George Papageorge ~ St Basil Greek Orthodox Church in Stockton, CA
Lent is a season of renewal and reconnection! Lent affords us the opportunity to slow down, strengthen our prayer life, and grow closer to Christ and one another.
Our Family Wellness Ministry team believes that this is a wonderful time to help make connections with people in your own family and within your church community, encouraging and supporting one another on the journey of Great Lent.

Family Wellness “Lenten Godparent Project”
Willing parishioners sign up and are paired with children in the parish to become “Lenten God-parents” encouraging kids and teens to walk the Lenten journey together as a church family.
Family Wellness Ministry Goal: to build relationships within the parish family, provide support and encouragement for all family members.
Lenten Godparents
• write a handwritten weekly letter of encouragement
• commit to praying for their Lenten God-child
• are introduced on Forgiveness Vespers (usually a potluck brings everyone together the night before Great Lent begins)
• attend Holy Unction together (although you are encouraged to come together for several weekday services throughout Lent)
To come up with a list of children who are interested in participating, work together with your Sunday School leaders to determine the best way to pair “Lenten God-parents”
